We are looking for a Stress and Structures Certification Intern to join our team for summer 2026. The goal of a Stress and Structures Certification Intern at Wisk is to ensure that our structural integrity methods, approaches, and allowables are both technically sound and compliant with our long-term certification strategies. You will be part of the Stress and Structures Certification team that validates the safety and reliability of the aircraft structure through rigorous analysis and physical testing.

Requirements

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters or PhD degree with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2028 .
  • Pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in basic structural analysis (classical hand calculations, first principles, free body diagrams, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) concepts and basic principles.
  • Experience with or strong interest in carrying out structural tests (e.g., tensile testing, coupon testing of composite laminates).
  • Proficiency with Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CAD software (NX CAD preferred) and PLM/Task management tools (Teamcenter, Jira) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • As part of the Structural Engineering organization, and deployed in the Stress and Certification group , you will act as a Stress and Structures Certification Intern for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.
  • You will take part in reviewing and advancing analysis tools and methodologies to ensure they are robust enough for the certification of our Generation 6 aircraft.
  • You will help support problem solving activities related to the correlation of analysis models with physical test data, helping to refine our engineering allowables.
  • You will take part in engineering development tests, including assisting in the fabrication and manufacturing of composite coupons and detail structural test articles.
  • You will assist in writing and reviewing structural test plans and reports, documenting results to support certification compliance.
  • You will collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to understand failure modes and improve structural performance.
