About The Position

This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of world-class strength and conditioning programs that are aligned with the individual performance goals of athletes and will help them attain optimal sports performance. This includes research and design of a program to deliver agreed objectives based on evidence-based practice, as well as the application, instruction, and evaluation of the program’s impact and culture. This role will oversee the implementation of individualized conditioning, strength, speed and flexibility programs for basketball as well as other assigned student-athletes. This position will oversee the return to performance process in close liaison with the medical team for the rehabilitation of injured players. The Strength and Conditioning Coach will also assist in the preparation of comprehensive reviews and feedback on training outcomes, with evidence-based recommendations for areas of responsibility to performance staff. This position will adopt a problem-solving approach to optimizing performance while promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, regulations of the University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in sport and exercise science or related field, specializing in physical preparation of elite athletes.
  • Current National Strength and Conditioning Association certification (CSCS).
  • Three years of experience in strength and conditioning support to division I college or professional level basketball athletes.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of strength and conditioning for high-performance athletes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • It is a requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain a UO driver’s certification, which includes maintaining a valid driver’s license throughout employment in this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in exercise and sport science.
  • Experience working in a Division I power-4 conference.
  • Experience working with sports performance technology to inform strength and conditioning program design.
