The Street Outreach Program (SOP) Outreach Worker collaborates with other SOP staff and volunteers to conduct on-street outreach, in all 8 wards of Washington, D.C., as well as providing support to other outreach teams when necessary. The Outreach Worker researches areas, creates maps, and gathers information from case managers to inform outreach efforts to locate homeless and unstably housed youth. During outreach efforts, the Outreach Worker will provide an initial assessment to youth, distribute survival aid and information, and potentially transport youth to safe facilities. To achieve this mission, LAYC provides services and opportunities to approximately 4,000 individuals annually to support academic achievement, promote healthy behavior, and guide youth towards successful adulthood.
