Stream Design Engineer (Ecology)
About The Position
As an Ecological Design Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), in Knoxville Office, you will be responsible for the design of stream and wetland restoration projects using natural stream design principles and techniques. You will routinely prepare stream and wetland construction drawings and specifications, coordinate 404/401 regulatory permits, oversee construction of projects, ensuring compliance with the design criteria, and perform field data collection, design parameters, and regulatory criteria. Ideal candidates will have experience with fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, hydraulics, sediment transport, stream and wetland ecology, and natural channel design. This position requires experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, interact with clients, periodic travel and field work as well as proficiency with technical writing.
Requirements
- 1-5 years relevant experience
- B.S. or M.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field
- Experience in natural channel design and wetland restoration design
- Demonstrated understanding of Sections 401 and 404 Clean Water Act regulations and permitting from State and Federal Regulatory Agencies
- Experience in Stream and Wetland Mitigation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS preferred
- Proficiency with technical writing
- Interact with clients
- Periodic travel and field work
Nice To Haves
- Rosgen Levels 1-4 preferred
- TN Stream Quantification Tool (SQT) Assessment experience preferred
- Construction Oversight or third-party construction inspection experience
