This position works flexible daylight hours, generally between 8:00a-4:00p Monday-Friday. Purpose: The Strategic Sourcing Associate will identify and enact initiatives to reduce UPMC's costs of goods/services and increase use and compliance of preferred vendors and programs. Individual will support and assist with development and implementation of supply chain initiatives that reduce UPMC's purchase/operational cost and improve service levels. Facilitate assigned cross-functional teams towards implementation of supply chain objectives. Leverage corporate spending through structured sourcing and competitive bid processes. Negotiate pricing, terms, and all other components on projects with lower risk and complexity. Limit UPMC liabilities by implementing corporate agreements for products and services.

Requirements

One of the following combinations of education and experience is required:
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of supply chain experience required
Associates degree and 5 years of supply chain experience required
High school diploma and 7 years of supply chain experience required
Strategic Sourcing Associates need to demonstrate the following: strong organization/communication skills, ability to provide exceptional customer service, financial and cost analyses, complex analytical skills, presentation skills, be a self-starter, and work well as a member of a team.
Travel between UPMC sites and use of personal vehicle may be required.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Buyer, Analyst, or Quality Assurance Specialist preferred.
Working knowledge of Ariba Sourcing, PeopleSoft, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
Professional certifications (CPM, PPM, CPSM, APICS, 6 Sigma, CBET, CRES, etc.) a benefit

Responsibilities

Develops and drafts lower risk and complexity Request for Information (RFI's) and Request for Proposals (RFP's).
Respects and maintains the confidentiality of all patient, physician, and hospital related information.
Monitors and analyzes existing contracts.
Reviews volumes/levels/compliance for opportunities for future negotiations and perform audits to validate pricing using various decision support tools within the department.
Identifies and understands spending outside of agreements and develops action plan(s) to address.
Work closely with Strategic Sourcing Leads and UPMC Legal to draft, develop, and finalize corporate agreements that limit UPMC's liability and clearly identify terms and conditions of said agreements.
Supports the execution of supply chain initiatives and coordinates with various internal and external stakeholders, as required.
Participates on cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
Participates in periodic business reviews with assigned Suppliers and related agreements, focusing on level of service being provided and actions to optimize contractual relationships; amend agreements as necessary.
Maintains a working knowledge of current industry trends and product/service development through participation in professional associations and related professional publications.
Cooperates and communicates in an effective, professional manner with management, peers, general staff, physicians, and other personnel.
Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
