The Impact You Will Have This position is responsible for the development, expansion, implementation, and measurement of business plans with our stakeholders (Agents, Consultants, Brokers and/or Fund Managers) to meet new business and ancillary program goal. Supports our stakeholders to assure Blue Cross maintains and grows its market position.

Requirements

  • 3 years of successful sales and/or health plan experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Life and Health Insurance license in good standing within 60 days of employment.
  • Highly self-motivated with a track record of developing and executing strategic partner or agency sales plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and follow-through on sales process steps while applying selling skills in ambiguous or complex situations.
  • Financial capabilities including ability to read, understand, interpret and present complex financial options.
  • Skillful negotiator with the ability to influence, educate, persuade and sell complex products.
  • Excellent analytical, problem identification and resolution skills as these pertain to benefit plans.
  • Knowledge of ancillary programs available in the industry and Blue Cross (life, AD&D, STD, LTD, CDHP products, Population Health and Care Management programs, Medicare D, Group Medicare, voluntary benefits and disability management programs).
  • Overnight travel as required.
  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships by demonstrating Blue Cross market leader position as the knowledge leader in emerging market strategies, innovations and products, resulting in us being a trusted resource.
  • Develop, implement, and manage strategic partner agency plan to grow business by securing and retaining existing business to meet Blue Cross financial objectives.
  • Develop, coordinate responses to fully qualified RFPs and present our proposed solution to demonstrate a differentiated competitive position beyond price.
  • Persuasively present proposals to strategic partner agencies and customers, reinforcing the value of Blue Cross proposed approach that supports client objectives and needs.
  • Drive negotiations, and gain agreement from strategic partner agencies on Blue Cross economic value, resulting in an increased market position leading and higher close rates.
  • Assist in the development, execution and accountability for new account implementation.
  • Provide education to strategic partner agencies on Blue Cross products, services and operational initiatives (e.g. claims management, account reporting, and member services) and serve as their Blue Cross Subject Matter Expert to enhance our relationship and increase Blue Cross brand loyalty.
  • Expected to spend at least 70% of one's time calling on stakeholders (e.g., Agents, Consultants, Brokers and/or Fund Managers) and customers.
  • Provide ongoing input and feedback to marketing/product management team as requested.
  • Maintains compliance with CRM (Client Relationship Management) reporting requirements.
