As a Strategic Pricing Co-op, you will be an integral member of Goodwin’s Strategic Pricing team. Goodwin is recognized as a global leader in redefining how law firms approach pricing, client value, and fee arrangements. In this role, you’ll support attorneys and business professionals in developing pricing proposals, building matter budgets, monitoring alternative fee arrangements (AFAs), and contributing to long-term projects that align with your interests and team priorities. AFAs are tailored pricing structures designed to provide predictability and value for clients while aligning with the firm’s business goals—an area where you will gain direct exposure. This role offers the opportunity to build core skills in financial modeling, project tracking, and data analysis in a professional services environment.

Requirements

  • Technical Skills.
  • Familiarity and experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, CoPilot etc.) to optimize execution of tasks—both in time it takes to complete and in quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, formatting) required.
  • Comfortable working in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams (including shared trackers and collaboration features).
  • Professional Skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional demeanor with internal clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical mindset with curiosity, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team-based projects.
  • Background.
  • Working toward a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Management, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau a plus but not required.
  • Prior co-op, internship, or work experience in a professional services or corporate environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support pricing proposals and budgets.
  • Maintain precedent materials by locating and organizing sample matter budgets, proposals, and experience data.
  • Populate financial data into client RFP (Request for Proposal) templates under tight deadlines, using matter- and client-level rate data.
  • Assist with economic modeling and reporting.
  • Update Excel-based models to project the financial impact of proposed client pricing structures and staffing plans.
  • Contribute to reporting packages and Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards to track matter economics, fee arrangements, and team performance.
  • Coordinate team processes and intake tracking.
  • Use Microsoft Teams and Excel to update the intake tracker and other shared tools, ensuring that project status, deadlines, and responsibilities are accurately captured.
  • Document and standardize key P&PM processes to contribute to onboarding materials for future co-ops and new hires.
  • Ad hoc analysis and strategic support.
  • Conduct data mining of historical matters for insights on scoping, staffing, and profitability.
  • Assist with the design and rollout of new initiatives to improve transparency, efficiency, and value in pricing and project management.
