About The Position

GDIT has an exciting opportunity to support the Security Assistance Group – Ukraine (SAG-U) as a member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s (USAREUR-AF) mission in Wiesbaden, Germany. The Strategic Planner / Solutions Architect serves as a senior advisor within the J6 enterprise, bringing extensive expertise in DoD architecture, military networks, and operational IT environments to guide forward design, integration, and delivery planning. Operating in an assist-and-advise capacity, this role shapes strategy by connecting technical possibilities to real-world mission needs across U.S. and coalition stakeholders. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Solutions Architect at GDIT, you will provide deep subject matter expertise in defense IT environments, enabling mission-driven innovation, secure coalition integration, and scalable solutions for dynamic theater operations. Advise J6 leadership, project teams, and mission partners on system integration, enclave expansion, and future-state network/service architectures based on evolving operational requirements Provide in-depth technical guidance that reflects expert knowledge of Army, Joint, and Coalition IT systems, their interdependencies, and mission application in contested or deployed environments Develop system-of-systems planning artifacts, including reference architectures, capability roadmaps, and operational integration frameworks Lead development of high-fidelity documentation to support risk analysis, configuration planning, system justification, and multi-enclave coordination Serve as a technical liaison across J65 (Plans), J62 (Cyber), and J63 (Operations) to drive consensus on secure, supportable, and mission-aligned architectures Participate in theater and interagency working groups to advise on enterprise-level integration with transport, coalition gateways, cross-domain solutions, and joint communications platforms WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s with 8 years in defense IT architecture, mission systems engineering, or strategic planning
  • 8+ years providing direct advisory, solution design, or capability development support in DoD tactical, operational, or strategic environments
  • Broad technical fluency across network architecture, system platforms, cross-enclave integration, cybersecurity frameworks, and mission-focused IT delivery
  • Experience developing technical documentation packages, architecture briefs, and operational planning artifacts for senior leaders and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, and Word for solution architecture development
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Deep knowledge of Army, Joint, and Coalition IT systems
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and provide trusted, technically grounded recommendations in support of command decision-making
  • Strong understanding of military communications planning, enclave design, cybersecurity constraints, and system deployment considerations in theater
  • Experience operating in cross-functional teams bridging cyber, project management, operations, and engineering
  • IAT Level II (e.g. Security+ CE)

Nice To Haves

  • TOGAF, CISSP, PMP, ITIL v4, or DAU advanced planning/architecture credentials
  • Experience working with Joint C4I systems, cross-domain enterprise architectures, and DoD transport environments
  • Prior experience supporting forward-deployed or contingency planning operations
  • Knowledge of DoD strategic planning documents, capability integration roadmaps, and IT investment cycles
