The Need For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Strategic Funding Research Consultant. The part-time consultant researcher will identify and analyze funding opportunities from multinational corporations and mega foundations. This researcher will provide strategic insights to expand IJM’s revenue pipeline, enhance partnership activation, and increase operational efficiency across the US Corporate & Government Partnerships (US C&GP) team. This position is remote and reports to the Officer of Global Business Development and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Relations, Public Policy, Business, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting research on corporate or government entities, including analysis of policies, programs, or funding priorities.
  • At least 1 year of experience producing comprehensive donor reports or strategic overview documents for internal or external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of corporate philanthropy and giving strategies, particularly those addressing gender-based violence and forced labor.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with donor management systems OR CRM preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing research to identify new and emerging funding opportunities with multinational corporations and mega foundations that are aligned with IJM’s mission and program roadmap.
  • Develop tailored research briefs to support targeted outreach and partnership proposals.
  • Collaborate with the US C&GP team to align research outputs with IJM’s strategic priorities and impact goals.
  • Provide competitive intelligence on organizations currently funded by target donors.
  • Map relationships and connections between IJM and key decision-makers at target institutions to support warm introductions and strategic engagement.
  • Support proposal development with evidence-based data and funder-specific intelligence.
  • Recommend prioritization strategies based on funder alignment, readiness, and potential impact.
  • Provide additional support to US C&GP projects needed and as bandwidth allows.
  • Research briefs summarizing top funding opportunities, trends, and strategic recommendations.
  • Funder profiles for high-potential corporations or foundations, including giving history, strategic priorities, and key contacts.
  • Relationship maps identifying IJM’s existing connections or potential pathways to decision-makers.
  • Competitive landscape reports highlighting peer organizations funded by target donors.
  • Proposal support memos with tailored insights to strengthen proposal alignment and positioning.
