About The Position

The Strategic Communications Strategist is a critical role within the AFWERX team, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs aimed at engaging diverse communities across the ecosystem, stakeholders, and industry partners. This role requires a combination of strategic planning, project management, relationship building, and communication skills to effectively promote the AFWERX mission and goals, and Director priorities to a variety of audiences, both internal and external, to address the most pressing challenges of the DAF.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in program management, or related field preferably within a military or government context.
  • Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans aligned with AFWERX organizational priorities and initiatives.
  • Create and manage communication products across multiple platforms including social media, web content, presentations, press releases, and internal communications.
  • Coordinate with leadership, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to develop targeted messaging and outreach strategies.
  • Ensure communications align with AFWERX branding guidance, organizational objectives, and operational security (OPSEC) requirements.
  • Track and assess communication effectiveness using analytics and stakeholder feedback to improve messaging and engagement.
  • Support meetings, events, and outreach activities; serve as a strategic communications liaison for assigned programs or divisions
