About The Position

SUMMARY Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies on highly technical subjects to inform and educate internal and external stakeholders, accommodating varying levels of education and knowledge. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Support planning, preparation, and execution of meetings (including agendas, presentations, and materials) to ensure effective engagement and outcomes. Develop, format, and manage graphic content for all communication products. Write, format, support, and distribute newsletters and regular informational updates for internal and external audiences. Support the review and approval of invoices, monitor expenditures, and provide regular budget status updates to HOC leadership. Prepare, track, and manage purchase requisitions in coordination with procurement processes. Support interactions with regulatory groups: Assist with materials, tracking, and communications related to regulatory meetings and compliance activities. Design and produce high-level presentations, handouts, and media products for use by the Hanford site manager and other senior officials to inform audiences about Hanford’s challenges, successes, and programs. Create communication products including highly visual briefing books, infographics, flowcharts, brochures, and digital slideshows. Compile, draft, and format periodic reports as required by U.S. Department of Energy Headquarters. Regularly update and manage content for digital displays in the office environment. Develop and coordinate products for engagement with media, requiring technical research and understanding. Create and maintain an inventory of all office common area bulletin boards; ensure displays are current, relevant, and in alignment with Hanford communications objectives; conduct a thorough audit of all bulletin boards twice annually and provide results and recommendations to HOC leadership. Aid in grant-related activities, including drafting, reviewing, and supporting the evaluation components required for grant applications and reporting. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned by HOC management to support the dynamic needs of the office.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in communications, graphics support, or related field.
  • Experience writing and designing for external non-technical audiences on highly technical topics.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of DOE program management practices, policies, and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Hanford Site mission, activities, priorities, and stakeholder landscape to include, but not limited to the Hanford Site tank farm and Hanford Site Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant Project.
  • Experience with advisory boards and/or regulatory entities .
  • Demonstrated proficiency with budget tracking, invoice review, and requisition creation.
  • Experience in designing and producing high-level communication products for senior management.
  • Strong understanding of media strategies and tools.
  • Ability to interface successfully with senior-level management and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), graphics/desktop publishing software, and email/distribution platforms.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
