About The Position

As a Strategic Business Program Senior Manager in the Project Office team, you will manage a portfolio within American Funds Service Group (AFSG), partnering with senior leaders to drive and prioritize the annual business planning process. You will ensure product roadmaps, initiatives, and enabling systems are aligned to key business drivers and deliver measurable business outcomes. You will work across business, technology, and product teams to shape investment priorities, define product roadmaps, and oversee a portfolio of capabilities and initiatives. This role contributes to the continued evolution of AFSG’s product operating model, supporting effective product planning, governance, and value delivery across the organization. You will engage with leaders to understand strategic priorities and translate them into a balanced, outcome‑focused portfolio. Responsibilities include portfolio and program management, product roadmap alignment, dependency and risk management, vendor oversight, change management, and executive communications, ensuring initiatives are delivered with discipline and accountability. Your style is strategic and consultative, with the ability to interpret business and product drivers, influence stakeholders, and guide trade‑off decisions in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments. You will foster a culture of engagement and accountability, helping teams connect their work to product value, customer impact, and enterprise strategy.

Requirements

  • You have led the vision, strategy, and execution of product or complex program initiatives.
  • Your resilience has helped when you’ve enlisted the collaboration of others, sifted through large data sets, re-prioritized, strategized, tailored communication, embraced conflict and identified critical issues.
  • You demonstrate knowledge of various project and product methodologies and practices and can lead others to carry them out.
  • You have experience as a manager and have successfully managed large programs that included senior level stakeholders.
  • You are familiar with business case and problem statement development and understand the importance of being nimble and pivoting as needed when project plans shift.
  • In identifying and aligning top priorities, you’ll encourage trade-offs that facilitate decision making.
  • You take the time to create and maintain meaningful relationships.
