Information on the division: Located in Livonia, Michigan, the 120+ employee facility (100,000 sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for design, development, manufacturing, assembly and support of landing gear, actuation systems and other aerospace components. As part of the Central Division you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs supporting Boeing, LockHeed Martin, Parker Hannifan, and military initiatives such as the B-2 Stealth, F105, and V280. With a strong focus on latest technology of the manufacturing processes with machining automation and techniques we aim to remain the best value producer of complex landing gear components. The role will include adjusting the press, changing cutting tools, or adjusting machine controls when automatic programming as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Ability to read drawings
- Experience with measuring equipment (micrometers/calipers)
Nice To Haves
- Worked as a Straightener or Press operator (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Operates the straightener on finished product to manufacture precision ball screws and other aerospace components.
- As part of the grind department, this role operates the Eitel Straightener.
- Process:
- Select machine tooling to be used, utilizing blueprints, work instructions, and production requirements.
- Lift and position work pieces and secure them on machine tables.
- Activate machine start up switches to perform appropriate production work according to specification.
- Remove bends in rounded steel based on dial indicator readings.
- Adjust steel using a hydraulic press to required straightness.
- Confers with supervisor or programmer to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors and obtains approval to continue production.
- Maintains machines and removes and replaces broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools.
- Follows all safety protocols, documentation requirements, and Aerospace quality standards.
