See how we build what moves the world The role As a Railcar Body Straightening Technician, you’ll ensure our carbon steel and stainless steel car bodies meet exacting dimensional tolerances. You’ll work in a high-energy production environment that prizes safety, precision, and craftsmanship. Schedule Monday–Thursday, 5:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing or comparable setting (including painting or related materials).
  • Basic English proficiency to communicate effectively with teammates, vendors, and partners.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and technical documents.
  • Solid math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide (whole numbers, fractions, decimals); calculate rate, ratio, and percent; read bar graphs.
  • Comfort working at times in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Activities may include standing, walking, sitting, stair climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and frequent hand use for tools or materials.
  • Frequent verbal communication; occasional tasks may involve detecting odors.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Vision requirements: close and distance vision, color differentiation, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with heat induction straightening or flame straightening preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use heat or cold straightening methods to bring welded car body assemblies into spec for all dimensions and tolerances.
  • Interpret manufacturing drawings to validate measurements and allowable variation.
  • Check work with the right instruments—straightedge, tape measure, templates, and more.
  • Correct fabrication issues per defined repair procedures.
  • Document work orders and quality records; accurately record labor time.
  • Operate hand and power tools, induction equipment, and welding tools safely.
  • Consistently meet Siemens standards for quality, workmanship, and schedule adherence with limited supervision.
  • Champion safety by wearing required PPE and helping maintain a safe, healthy workspace.
