About The Position

Enhances public safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia and
Department of Corrections (DOC) staff and inmates, by meeting re-entry
objectives and by providing effective security, programming, custody and control
of adult inmates in a major correctional facility.

This position maintains an effective and efficient institutional warehouse
operation ensuring an adequate inventory level of approved items in compliance
with Department of Corrections (DOC) and institutional policy and procedure.
Responsible for daily receipt and delivery of warehouse/commissary items.
Mains perpetual inventory system. Assists with physical inventory of
warehouse items. Maintains safety and security and sanitation of warehouse
operation. This position is the surplus and excess property coordinator for the
facility. Ensures proper inspection and accurate documentation is recorded and
maintained on items received, stocked and distributed. Ensures all staff and
inmate workers are properly trained, supervised and monitored.

Requirements

• Ability to supervise staff and inmates
• Proficient in basic computer operations to include MS Suite applications and inventory software
• Demonstrated ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment or the capacity to learn
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds safely
• High School Diploma or a GED equivalent
• Two years warehouse/stockroom experience or equivalent job related proficiency
• Must maintain a current forklift certification
• Some experience in supervising the work of others

Nice To Haves

• Extensive warehouse operation experience
• Previous supervisory experience
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
• Previous experience in handling of hazardous materials
• Fixed Asset Accounting and Control System (FAACS)
