About The Position

Iowa State University Dining is looking for a Storekeeper II to join our team and keep one of our largest warehouse-style supply areas running smoothly. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be engaged in keeping the space organized and efficient. Much of the work is independent, giving you the chance to set up systems, organize the flow, and take pride in a space that supports the kitchen and dining teams. You’ll spend your shift moving, lifting, unloading deliveries, stocking supply areas, and maintaining systems that keep the operation running efficiently. Schedule: Monday through Friday | 5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Serving more than 8,000 meals a day at over 20 locations, ISU Dining relies on strong, reliable back-of-house support. This role is a key part of that—steady work, clear purpose, and a direct impact on the team’s success. Requirements

One year of work experience in storekeeping, accounting, business administration or job related work, or Any combination of such experience and post high school education that totals one year.
Possession of appropriate drivers license as required.
Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures.
Knowledge of the characteristics, uses, and proper handling/storage techniques of items supplied.
Knowledge of proper lifting and bending techniques.
Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to prepare and maintain stock records, reports, and inventories.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and constituents.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to provide functional supervision.
Ability to work with a computerized inventory control system.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Experience in warehouse operations or team lead roles in a warehouse setting
Experience working with commercial inventory systems, ordering, and/or supply control
ServSafe Certification or additional certifications in a related field

Responsibilities

Keep coolers, freezers, and dry storage stocked, organized, and ready for use throughout the day.
Maintain shelves and storage areas so the team can access everything quickly and safely.
Unload and move deliveries each morning, rotating stock, stocking multiple areas, and keeping the workflow consistent across the warehouse.
Stay active throughout the shift, lifting, moving, and organizing supplies to maintain a steady flow from start to finish.
Work independently, checking in briefly with team and kitchen staff as needed, then managing your own tasks and systems.
Create routines and setups that keep the warehouse running efficiently, supporting a high-volume dining operation; giving you a sense of pride and ownership.
Receives, stores, and issues equipment, materials, supplies, foodstuffs, etc., according to established methods.
Stores special stock items requiring treatment, which may deviate from established storekeeping methods in assigning space and identification.
Issue items that require knowledge of specific areas of supply operation and good knowledge of stock characterized by susceptibility to spontaneous combustion, toxicity, fragility, rapid deterioration, contamination, and ease of physical damage.
Performs tasks independently in connection with checking and tallying special or technical items of supply.
Verifies stock against shipping authorizations for agreement as to quantities, descriptions, sizes, conditions, and conformance to purchase orders.
Searches manufacturers’ catalogs, technical bulletins, nomenclature lists, etc., to identify special items; seeks advice of operating personnel to ensure compliance with purchase orders for unusual orders.
Applies storekeeping procedures and methods in arranging space, conducting inventory, estimating needs, and maintaining and preparing records and reports as directed.
Makes minor adjustments or repairs to items carried in stock.
Drives, loads, and unloads a delivery truck periodically.
Assist faculty and staff in setting up and operating equipment for lectures, regular laboratory work, or special demonstrations.
