About The Position

The Office of Business Services is seeking to hire a Storekeeper I located in Des Plaines, Illinois. Under general direction, maintains inventory of office forms. Prepares from orders for shipment to other points. Checks each shipment received for correct quantity and acceptable quality. Allocates storage space and bins. Maintains clerical records of transactions. Prepares requisitions, reorders forms and eliminates stock of obsolete forms on hand.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires one (1) year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
  • Requires the ability to lift over 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.

Responsibilities

  • Fills orders received from various section and units for office forms via the Systems, Applications and Products/Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP/ERP) System.
  • Uses industrial shredder to shred records that have exceeded their retention schedule.
  • Checks shipments received to ensure items conform to quantity, quality and prescribed specifications per orders.
  • Maintains records pertaining to perpetual inventory.
  • Develops proper and efficient stores methods; allocates bin space and storage area for items received.
  • Packs and lifts forms for shipment to other locations, weighing over 50lbs.
  • Operates material handling equipment, i.e., scales, hand trucks, forklift trucks, taping machine.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
