About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing the operations of donated merchandise in accordance with established business practices. This role focuses on ensuring the success of a retail store by developing sales and controlling expenses.

Requirements

  • High School degree or GED.
  • Demonstrated success in a DGR leadership position with completion of Goodwill assigned training.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to adapt to growth and a changing environment within the Organization.
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Ability to transfer to any Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area within the territory.
  • Reliable transportation and communication.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for organizational purposes, including to other sight locations and regular meetings.
  • Must be available to work during operating business hours as needed for business operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or completion of related retail management course work.
  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory role of 15 or more employees.
  • Bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Support Chattanooga Goodwill’s Mission, Vision, and Values through words and actions, aligning decisions with organizational guiding principles.
  • Maintain organization, employee, and participant confidentiality.
  • Ensure punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Manage budget and maintain expenditures in accordance with organizational, departmental, and store financial goals.
  • Comply with Organization policies and Donated Goods Retail standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the Organization’s safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, motivate, develop, and supervise all store personnel to maintain and exceed the Organization’s operational standards.
  • Greet, assist, and provide excellent customer service to donors and customers.
  • Resolve any complaints and communicate with the management team.
  • Maintain proficiency for tasks required in all workstations.
  • Monitor and maintain overall store appearance and housekeeping to Organization standards.
  • Perform all functions performed by store personnel.
  • Attend all meetings and training as required by the Organization and conduct all monthly meetings with store employees.
  • Maintain all company records and reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Meet store sales goals and operate within budgetary guidelines.
  • Oversee production and rotation of merchandise, ensuring quality of merchandise and proper pricing.
  • Review and be familiar with Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area safety policies, programs and procedures and adhere to all safety rules, regulations and safety codes.
  • Attend safety training and meetings and report any unsafe work conditions, accidents or injuries immediately.
  • Assist at other store locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Lead by example, motivate staff, and foster a positive work environment.
