Primary Purpose: At our Cleveland Service Center site, located in Cleveland, Ohio, we re-manufacture alternators for EVO, HDL and FDL locomotives. The Cleveland Center supplies alternators to locomotive manufacturing sites and repairs points across the globe. The site focuses on safe, efficient processes, while continuously driving out costs. The Stockroom Keeper is responsible for maintaining stockroom levels, load/unload trucks, and distribute product/materials to proper departments in an effective and efficient manner for the organization. Employees are involved in 5S and lean projects. This role will report directly to the Supervisor. This is a 1st shift position with standard hours Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:00pm

Requirements

  • At least 1 year in manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP/WMS software.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to relay inventory status clearly and concisely to both shop floor personnel and management via verbal and written channels.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with aggressive delivery goals and shifting priorities.
  • Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Employee is regularly required to see and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
  • Employee is regularly required to wear steel toe shoes, safety glasses.
  • Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving & Inbound Logistics Freight Management: Direct the offloading of trucks and transition of materials into the facility. Inspect all incoming freight for damage and verify physical contents against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Put-Away & Labeling: Ensure all received materials are accurately labeled and moved to their designated "home" locations immediately to maintain a hazard-free, organized workspace.
  • Oracle ERP & Data Management Transaction Excellence: Execute all daily Oracle transactions with 100% accuracy, including material receipts, part issues to the shop floor, and sub-inventory transfers.
  • Digital Record Keeping: Maintain a "clean" digital audit trail for every physical move, ensuring the system reflects the real-time status of the warehouse.
  • Audit & Accuracy: Lead the weekly cycle count program to validate physical on-hand quantities against Oracle records and investigate the root cause of any discrepancies.
  • Data Communication: Clearly communicate inventory trends, data gaps, or system discrepancies to management and the Materials function to ensure ERP alignment.
  • Material Flow to Shopfloor Production Distribution: Proactively issue and deliver materials to specialized production departments in an effective and timely manner to prevent technician downtime.
  • Risk-Mindset & Forecasting: Proactively identify items running low on stock. Anticipate potential shortages by monitoring usage and communicate "at-risk" materials to the Materials function and shop leadership well ahead of production needs.
  • Lean Communication: Utilize Roto-Cubes and Two-Bin Kanban systems to signal replenishment needs and communicate stock levels clearly to management.
  • Kitting & Staging: Organize and "kit" materials for upcoming alternator and generator repair jobs, ensuring 100% of required parts are staged before a job hits the floor.
  • Visual Management: Support Material TAs and Work leaders in creating and maintaining world-class visual management across all three site stockrooms.
  • Shop Support & Continuous Improvement Lean/5S Projects: Actively participate in 5S and Lean manufacturing projects to drive out waste and improve the efficiency of the repair process.
  • Safety Leadership: Maintain a safety-first mindset, participating in accident prevention initiatives and adhering to all PPE requirements (Steel toes, safety glasses, etc.).
  • General Support: Flexibility to perform all tasks required to support the repair of Alternators and Generators as assigned by supervision.
  • Perform Oracle transactions.
  • Receiving material and Load/Unload trucks.
  • Issue materials to the production floor.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain stockrooms with a focus on safety awareness and accident prevention
  • Support the Material TA in creating and maintaining visual management for all 3 stockrooms.
  • Communicate stock levels to management via the use of the roto-cubes and two bin Kanban systems.
  • Complete weekly cycle counts and communicate results.
  • Assists the Working Leaders in the development of production floor visual management.
  • Support various departments as required.
  • Ability to meet aggressive delivery schedules and productivity goals and to make/implement recommendations that will both improve the repair process and quality.
  • Flexibility to perform all tasks required to repair Alternators and Generators.
  • All other duties assigned by supervision
