About The Position

Overview Harlequin, a division of HarperCollins, is seeking a Temp to Perm Stockhanlder 2 (6am-2:30pm and must be open to overtime during the week and occasional Saturday's when required.) The Stockhandler 2 plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of the warehouse by ensuring the timely and accurate movement of products, scrap materials, and excess inventory between production areas and storage. This role requires the use of material handling equipment and warehouse management systems to maintain the flow of goods while supporting daily production schedules and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Responsibilities Material Flow Management: Regularly review and interpret production schedules, ensuring the prioritization of material movement in line with production needs. Assess daily requirements and adjust material handling strategies accordingly to optimize production flow. Maintain a keen understanding of inventory levels and production timelines to prevent delays and minimize downtime. Product Handling & Transportation: Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and cherry pickers to transport product and materials to appropriate staging areas, production lines, and storage locations. Ensure that all product is handled with care, following proper lifting techniques and safety guidelines to prevent damage and maintain quality. Staging & Timing: Proactively plan the staging of materials in production areas to minimize delays and support the efficient use of production equipment. Determine the best times to move materials based on the production schedule, ensuring that materials are available when needed. Efficiently prioritize and manage multiple material handling tasks simultaneously to maintain smooth production flow. Collaboration with Fulfillment Teams: Work closely with other departments to coordinate the in and outflow of materials between racks, bulk storage areas, and staging zones. Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve any material handling challenges, ensuring a seamless flow of goods throughout the plant. System Maintenance & Accuracy: Accurately record and update material movement in the PKMS warehouse management system using RF equipment, ensuring real-time data tracking and maintaining system integrity. Regularly audit inventory to ensure data consistency and address discrepancies proactively. Support Other Operations: Assist with additional warehouse functions such as receiving materials, organizing stock, performing stretch wrapping of pallets, and operating compactors as needed to support production operations. Ensure product is clearly identified and properly organized in preparation for shipping. Finished Product Handling & Documentation: Coordinate the consolidation, palletization, and labeling of finished products, ensuring clear identification and proper organization for shipping. Deliver and complete necessary documentation, including shipping instructions and inventory records, to appropriate departments to ensure accurate and timely shipping. Training & Development: Provide support and mentorship to new associates in the material handling area, offering guidance on equipment usage, safety protocols, and effective material handling practices. Participate in training sessions to continuously improve job performance and stay updated on new systems or procedures. Administrative Responsibilities: Performs cycle counting to ensure inventory accuracy. Complete and maintain accurate records and paperwork related to material handling operations, including inventory logs, shipping documentation, and safety reports. Ensure all material handling equipment forms and checklists are filled out correctly and submitted on time. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers, including assisting with special projects or covering additional responsibilities as needed. Safety and Cleanliness: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Keep work area clean and organized following 6S guidelines, ensuring that tools, equipment, and materials are stored properly and safely.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required. Additional certifications or training in inventory, warehouse management, or similar fields is a plus.
• Forklift certification is required for all material handling equipment, including automatic forklifts and cherry pickers. HDC will certify associates.
• Experience with RF equipment and warehouse management systems is highly desirable.
• A minimum of one year of experience in a similar production or warehouse environment is required, with a demonstrated ability to perform material handling tasks effectively.
• Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear and efficient communication with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
• Skilled at leading conversations around production flow and material handling challenges, facilitating collaboration between teams to address issues and improve performance.
• Must have proficiency in basic math operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and working with decimals and fractions.
• Ability to read & verify numbers, ensuring inventory accuracy.
• Must be able to interpret complex production schedules, adjusting material movement strategies to align with production needs and minimize disruptions.
• Ability to think critically, prioritize tasks, and respond to evolving production requirements.
• Able to identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and make decisions in real-time to optimize workflow and material handling processes.
• Employees must comply with all safety policies and guidelines.
• Ensure work areas are kept clean and organized to minimize risks of accidents.

• Always wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure equipment is in good working condition.
