Steward (Part-Time)
About The Position
The Part-Time Steward supports the back-of-house operations by maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the kitchen and dish areas. Working under the direction of Lead Steward, this role focuses on operating dishwashing equipment, properly handling kitchen tools, and ensuring all wares and workspaces are cleaned and ready for service. The ideal candidate is dependable, efficient, and takes pride in supporting a safe and organized kitchen environment. This is a part-time position ideal for individuals seeking flexible hours in a professional culinary setting.
Requirements
- Prior stewarding, dishwashing, or kitchen support experience preferred but not required
- Strong work ethic and ability to follow direction
- Attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness and safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
- Comfortable using commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning chemicals safely
- Ability to lift, push, and carry heavy objects and stand for long periods
- Punctual, dependable, and willing to learn
Responsibilities
- Operate dishwashing machine and manually wash pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of all dish areas, including floors, walls, and equipment
- Assist in organizing and storing kitchen equipment and wares in appropriate locations
- Dispose of trash, recycling, and food waste according to proper procedures
- Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper handling of cleaning products
- Support culinary staff by restocking wares, utensils, and cleaning supplies
- Communicate equipment malfunctions or supply needs to Lead Steward or BOH Manager
- Assist with deep cleaning tasks and other kitchen maintenance as assigned
