About The Position

Job Purpose : The Dental Sterilization Technician is responsible for ensuring the continuity, consistency, and regulatory compliance of all medical and dental instrument sterilization processes. This role oversees a comprehensive inventory and sterilization management system, supports the organization’s Infection Control Program, and ensures sterilization practices align with AAAHC, CDC, OSHA, and state regulatory standards to promote safe, high‑quality patient care. This position carries expanded responsibilities and elevated accountability, including monitoring compliance, maintaining detailed documentation, supporting accreditation readiness, and serving as a key operational resource for infection prevention and sterilization best practices. Qualifications Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Ensure sterilization processes comply with AAAHC standards , CDC infection prevention guidelines, manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs), and SCIHP policies. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, damage, wear, and functionality prior to sterilization and remove items from service when necessary. Maintain strict separation of clean, contaminated, and sterile workflows to prevent cross‑contamination. Conduct and document sterility assurance testing, including biological indicators, chemical indicators, and load records, in accordance with regulatory requirements. Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready sterilization logs, including cycle documentation, equipment testing, corrective actions, and exception tracking. Identify trends, risks, or gaps in sterilization processes and promptly escalate concerns to leadership and the Infection Control Function (IFC). Perform routine inspection, testing, and basic maintenance of sterilization equipment; promptly report malfunctions and coordinate service and repairs. Maintain the sterilization area and storage spaces in a condition that meets workflow efficiency, safety, cleanliness, and regulatory standards always.
