This position is a HSPA certified technician, responsible for ensuring that all basic surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed and tracked in a quality / timely manner throughout the large-size hospital for basic procedures and all surgical specialties including higher acuity procedures (i.e. orthopedics, neuro, and vascular). The role involves leading an assigned area (i.e. decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, case carts, or the center core) when required and utilizing applications and technology for accurate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations. This full-time role, with a shift of Monday-Friday 10am-6:30pm, specifically oversees the entire department's education. The supervisor will teach, train, orient, and precept students and new SPD Techs, validating all Sterile Processing proficiencies within the education system. Responsibilities extend beyond clinical operations to include education, ordering of instrumentation, sterile processing software management, implant management, quality control, lead repair services, and managing preference cards. The position requires collaboration with Operating Room staff and medical equipment/instrumentation vendors for managing errors, facilitating priority needs, and handling equipment check-in/out.
