About The Position

Responsible for the daily cleaning and sterilization of equipment and instruments for use in the operating room. This position will work 2:30 pm to 11 pm.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Required
• 0-2 years of related experience
• Broad knowledge of OR procedures and comprehensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Broad knowledge of all decontamination equipment and sterilization procedures.
• The sterile processing technician must be able to engage in physical activities on a daily basis.
• Evidence of negative Mantoux or chest x-ray annually (test will be provided at no cost to the Employee)
• Able to maintain extensive standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and twisting.
• Able to lift a minimum of 20# of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Hepatitis immunization (provided at no cost to the employee). Or documented refusal to be vaccinated.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates surgical items, assembles, sterilizes and distributes items as needed.
• Ensures efficient operation of sterile processing and assures sterility of instruments and supplies.
• Responsible for identifying and repairing broken instruments and equipment.
• Develops and maintains sterilization logs.
• Performs daily and as needed all biological and chemical tests for sterilization equipment.
• Provides clean and sterile med/surg supplies and equipment to surgery suites and other patient care areas.
• Other duties as assigned
