About The Position

We are North Shore Medical Center. Our primary function is to offer continuous nursing, medical, and other health and social services on a 24-hour basis, under physician directed care and RN supervision. We service a multitude of patients and their families across our vast network, while remaining committed to the professional development of our staff, the functional improvement of our patients, and the cultivation of strong partnerships within our communities. The Surgical Technologist assists in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. They ensure the operating room environment is safe, sterile, and equipped with the necessary instruments and supplies for surgery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Required (CST) with NBSTSA
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from American Heart Association
  • Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical procedures, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Drug Test screenings.

Nice To Haves

  • One year OR Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes.
  • Sterilize instruments and ensure all materials meet infection control standards.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain a sterile field and monitor aseptic techniques throughout the procedure.
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure accuracy.
  • Handle specimens properly for laboratory analysis.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly before and after operations.
  • Collaborate with nurses and surgical teams to ensure patient safety and smooth workflow.
  • Support post-operative clean-up and prepare the room for the next case.
