Requirements

High School diploma or GED
Must obtain National Certification by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or IAHSMM within two years of hire date, if not currently certified.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in instrument processing or surgical technology.

Responsibilities

The Sterile Processing Technician uses various tools, techniques, and equipment to provide sterile surgical instruments to the patients.
Test sterilization equipment according to current policy and document results.
Assemble instrument trays for sterile processing.
Handle, store, and transport sterile items to maintain conditions of sterility.
Inspect, return, and store items not used on cases.
Participate in teaching other staff members as delegated by the Sterile Processing Coordinator.
