Willamette Valley Medical Center is a 60-bed acute-care, full-service facility, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and certified as an accredited Chest Pain Center by ACC Accreditation Services, the accrediting arm of the American College of Cardiology. We also provide a host of other services, including the Joint Replacement Institute, a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient Surgical Services, a Family Birthing Center, Endoscopy, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Pulmonary Services, Therapy Services, and Oncology services through H.R. Hoover MD Cancer Center. Non-Certified Central Sterile Supply Tech Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital. Reports to: Director of Surgery Services. Essential Functions Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements. Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety. Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need. Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy. Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Sterile processing program completion and certification completed within one year of hire or once hours have been achieved to sit for certification.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
