SUMMARY: The Sterile Processing Loaner Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the intake, tracking, communication, and return of loaner instrumentation while supporting front‑end departmental communication. This role serves as a liaison between Sterile Processing, vendor representatives, clinics, and procedural areas to ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and surgical scheduling needs. When primary coordination responsibilities are not required, the incumbent will assist with tray inspection activities to support departmental workflow and productivity. Loaner Instrumentation Management Coordinate the sign in, documentation, and tracking of all loaner trays entering the department. Ensure loaner sets meet hospital policy requirements, including arrival timeframes, completeness, and supporting documentation. Monitor compliance with loaner instrumentation procedures and identify discrepancies. Coordinate the timely pickup and return of loaner trays following surgical case completion. Vendor Communication & Compliance Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor representatives regarding loaner instrumentation. Contact vendor representatives when trays are not signed in properly, arrive late, or are incomplete. Reinforce hospital expectations related to loaner processes, documentation, and delivery standards. Communicate recurring compliance issues to SPD leadership for follow up and resolution. Clinic & Department Coordination Work closely with clinics, procedural areas, and the Operating Room to facilitate effective communication regarding loaner instrumentation. Answer department phones and respond to inquiries from clinical areas, vendors, and staff. Assist with door coverage to maintain controlled access to the department as needed. Act as a liaison between SPD and clinical stakeholders to minimize case delays and workflow disruptions. Operational & Departmental Support Reduce workflow interruptions for SPD technicians by managing front end communication and coordination responsibilities. Assist with tray inspection activities when primary loaner coordination and communication duties are not required. Support compliance with Joint Commission, infection prevention, and hospital regulatory standards related to loaner instrumentation. Assist with tracking and trending loaner related issues, including late arrivals, missing items, or documentation deficiencies. Participate in departmental process improvement initiatives as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
