Duties: Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding Technician

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification within 12 months of licensed date required.
  • Internal Aseptic Technique training completed within two weeks of hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • Inpatient pharmacy department experience in sterile compounding preferred.
  • Hazardous medication and/or total parenteral nutrition (TPN) compounding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sterile compounding according to policy and regulations including USP 797 and USP 800.
  • Maintain competency in use of all equipment and programs related to performing sterile compounding.
  • Participate in medication management for pharmacy compounding, including medication and supply ordering, receiving, and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, hardware, and software issues relating to compounding.
  • Participate in completing and documenting all cleaning and monitoring activities identified for areas related to sterile compounding.
  • Practice critical and focused thinking and perform calculations as needed to validate activities.
  • Work within a team to triage and respond to all compounding needs in a timely manner, following supervisor shift pharmacists' oversight.
  • Maintain ongoing didactic and practical training as related to sterile compounding.
