About The Position

Engineering For Kids – Minneapolis brings STEM to life through hands‑on, week-long summer camps for students in grades K–8. Our programs introduce engineering and technology concepts through activities such as building simple machines, designing structures, exploring 3D printing, and completing creative STEM challenges. Our instructors travel to schools and community centers across the Twin Cities to deliver fun, engaging learning experiences. Position: STEM Summer Camp Instructor (Lead Teacher) Ideal for licensed teachers or experienced college students who can confidently lead a class of 8–24 students. What You’ll Do Travel to camp sites throughout the Twin Cities metro Set up materials and equipment for each camp Lead hands‑on STEM lessons using our provided curriculum Manage groups of 8–24 students in grades K–8 Pick up and return equipment weekly at our New Hope office Attend required orientation and tech training before camps begin Schedule Camps run: June 8 – August 14 Monday–Thursday: 8:30am–4:30pm Friday: 9:00am–12:00pm (prep & equipment exchange) Most instructors work 8–10 weeks at approximately 20-30 hours per week. Pay $20–$27 per hour, depending on experience

Requirements

  • Experience working with elementary‑age children (camp or classroom)
  • Licensed teacher OR high‑performing college student in Education, Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle able to transport 4 large totes
  • Willing to drive up to 20 miles one way (mileage reimbursed beyond 20 miles)
  • Live within 30 miles of New Hope, MN
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs
  • Strong organization, punctuality, and communication skills
  • Comfortable with technology (curriculum on tablet; smartphone required for timekeeping)
  • Reliable internet and cell phone access
  • Must pass a local and national background check
  • US citizen, resident, or valid work permit
  • Classroom management: 1 year (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of 3D printing is a plus
  • Teaching Certification (Preferred)
