About The Position

Engineering For Kids – Minneapolis offers hands‑on STEM summer camps for grades K–8. Students explore engineering and technology concepts through activities like building simple machines, designing structures, exploring 3D printing, and completing creative STEM challenges. Our team travels to schools and community centers across the Twin Cities to deliver engaging learning experiences. Position: STEM Summer Camp Assistant Instructor Designed for tech‑savvy high school or college students who enjoy working with kids. A reliable car is required for travel to camp locations.

Requirements

  • Experience working with elementary‑age children (camp, school, tutoring, volunteering, etc.)
  • Tech‑savvy high school or college student (Education, Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle able to transport 4 large totes
  • Willing to drive up to 20 miles one way (mileage reimbursed beyond 20 miles)
  • Live within 30 miles of New Hope, MN
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs
  • Strong organization, punctuality, and communication skills
  • Comfortable with technology (curriculum on tablet; smartphone required for timekeeping)
  • Reliable internet and cell phone access
  • Must pass a local and national background check
  • US citizen, resident, or valid work permit

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Instructor with hands‑on STEM lessons
  • Help set up and organize materials and equipment
  • Support classroom management for groups of 8–24 students
  • Travel to camp sites throughout the Twin Cities metro
  • Pick up and return equipment weekly at our New Hope office
  • Attend required orientation and tech training before camps begin
