As a Utility Operations Trainee at U. S. Steel's Mon Valley Works, you will start at the ground level and quickly learn to support production across three sites: Clairton Works, Irvin Works, and Edgar Thomson Works. This role involves moving between production and service areas to ensure the mill runs smoothly, using various hand and power tools, and handling steel and related materials. The work environment can be challenging, involving hot, cold, wet, dirty, greasy, and noisy conditions, sometimes near molten metal. After initial on-the-job training, you will advance to a Utility Technician role, operating material handling equipment such as cranes, tractors, trucks, dozers, loaders, boom trucks, and feeders. U. S. Steel, founded in 1901, is a leader in steelmaking and the first North American steel company to declare a 2050 net-zero greenhouse gas emissions goal. The company is committed to safety, community investment, and diversity, equality, and inclusion.
