About The Position

Steel Mill Electrical Maintenance Technician It’s what’s inside that counts. A day in your steel-toed boots From sunrise checks to late-shift diagnostics, you’ll keep our melt shop, rolling lines, and support systems powered and performing. One hour you’re reading schematics to isolate a fault; the next, you’re using an oscilloscope to analyze a stubborn signal on a drive. You’ll collaborate across maintenance and production, document your work in SAP, and help teammates solve complex controls challenges—always with safety and PPE at the forefront. Compensation & rewards Potential Annual Income: $100,000-$120,000 based on an annualized hourly rate which includes shift differential, overtime, and annual bonus. Actual annual income may vary. Requirements

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Hands-on experience applying electrical principles, concepts, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Proven AC/DC troubleshooting experience.
  • Skilled in electrical controls maintenance and repair.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Core proficiencies PLC troubleshooting
  • Reading electrical schematics
  • Work with 120/208/240/480V systems
  • Diagnostics and repair of electrical systems
  • General electrical troubleshooting

Nice To Haves

  • knowledge of melting, casting, and rolling processes and equipment.
  • minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • MRO/SAP system exposure.
  • familiarity with NFPA 70E requirements.
  • Allen‑Bradley and/or other PLC troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively across departments; understand how plant devices and systems interact.
  • Work safely at all times, following rules, regulations, and PPE standards to prevent injuries.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test gear, hand tools, and your expert judgment to find root causes.
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls and high-voltage systems up to site maximums; interpret electrical/electronic schematics with confidence.
  • Perform daily inspections and maintenance on shop machinery, mobile equipment, HVAC systems, and overhead cranes.
  • Maintain a strong, current understanding of electrical systems/components and how they operate.
  • Record work performed, repair details, and parts/material usage with accuracy.
  • Execute maintenance: repair/replace damaged parts, perform adjustments and calibrations, assemble/install/test equipment, and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams as needed.
  • Use the SAP maintenance module: retrieve information, document actions, track time, and log corrective measures.
  • Operate diagnostic instruments including digital voltmeters, paper recorders, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and related tools.
