About The Position

The Steel Erector Foreman leads Constructable’s structural steel erection crews on commercial and industrial construction projects. This role is responsible for safe execution, productivity, quality, and crew leadership. The Foreman ensures all steel erection activities comply with company standards, project requirements, and applicable safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Structural Steel Erection Expertise: Proven ability to safely and efficiently execute structural steel erection, including sequencing, bolt-up, alignment, and crane coordination
  • Field Planning & Productivity Management: Strong capability to plan daily work, allocate manpower and equipment, and deliver work within schedule and labor targets
  • Safety Leadership & Compliance: Demonstrated commitment to OSHA and site safety requirements; enforces PPE, fall protection, and safe work practices
  • Quality & Constructability Control: Ensures work meets drawings, specifications, and tolerances; identifies constructability issues early
  • Crew Leadership & Communication: Effectively leads and develops crews; communicates clearly with project managers, superintendents, and other trades
  • Team Player: Collaborates openly with field and management teams

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate steel erection crews on-site
  • Read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications
  • Plan daily work activities, erection sequencing, and crew assignments
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
  • Enforce OSHA, site-specific, and Constructable safety requirements
  • Verify crew compliance with required PPE, fall protection, tie-off, and tool use
  • Ensure pre-task planning, lift planning, and daily safety briefings are conducted
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, crane operators, and other trades
  • Monitor productivity, manpower, material flow, and equipment utilization
  • Inspect work in progress for alignment, bolt-up, and installation quality
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions or improper work practices immediately
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members and lead hands
  • Maintain accurate daily reports for labor, progress, safety, and issues
  • Report incidents, near misses, delays, and material constraints promptly
