About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing all engineering operations. Using strong leadership skills, the role drives revenue, maximizes profit, and ensures quality. The position involves effective management of assigned staff to achieve financial goals, guest satisfaction, and positive employee relations. Additionally, the role includes supervising the team at the steam plant, ensuring the maintenance of boilers, pumps, and other critical mechanical equipment essential for the supply of steam and condensate return to buildings at the GM Warren Tech Center.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of Management experience required
  • Experience working in a multi-functional, cross-team environment where you are the primary point of contact for multiple business partners.
  • Requires an Associate degree or equivalent experience in engineering
  • Strong analysis, organization, communications, interpersonal, and project management skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of boilers, pumps, compressors, electric motors, and water treatment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems (boilers, cooling towers, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Stationary Engineer License
  • Relevant certifications such as Universal CFC, Refrigeration License, etc.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining steam boilers and related equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient operation of steam boilers, including monitoring water levels, fuel supplies, and combustion air.
  • Ensure the efficient operations of other auxiliary steam boilers and hot water boilers across the campus.
  • Lead and manage a team of stationary engineers and technicians, establish work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
  • Coordinate routine and emergency maintenance, including start-ups and shutdowns of mechanical systems.
  • Oversee the operations and chemical management of the steam plant to ensure efficient and effective functioning.
  • Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and documentation standards, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Support the steam start up and shut down for the entire system.
