About The Position

About the role Make timely, accurate, and customer-focused decisions regarding Short-Term Disability, Statutory Disability Insurance, or Absence Management claims. Actively get in touch with clinical, vocational, employer, financial, and other internal and external sources for relevant information. Review this data against the applicable contracts and procedural documents. Analyze findings and involve peers and management as appropriate. Communicate effectively through both spoken and written methods. Employ the claim system with detailed and precise information. Keep performance meeting or exceeding departmental metrics. Remain agile and responsive.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience, college degree a plus.
  • 2-5 years of cumulative, relevant experience
  • Knowledge of disability claims
  • Minimum Internet Speed: 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, in alignment with the FCC's definition of "broadband."
  • Internet Type: Fiber, Cable (e.g., Comcast, Spectrum), or DSL.
  • Not Permissible: Satellite (e.g., Starlink), cellular broadband (hotspot or otherwise), any other wireless technology, or wired dial-up.

Nice To Haves

  • college degree a plus.
  • Bi-lingual is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Make timely, accurate, and customer-focused STD, SDI, and AM new and ongoing claim decisions.
  • Contact relevant sources to gather clinical, vocational, employer, financial, and other information.
  • Compare this data to contract terms, limitations, conditions, and applicable procedural documents.
  • Render the claim decision as quickly as possible.
  • Document claim systems accurately and comprehensively while maintaining high efficiency.
  • Prepare and share clear written and verbal communications with various internal and external parties.
  • Prepare, update, and use a claim management plan to achieve the most appropriate outcome.
  • Remain fully compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate an above average level of proficiency in STD, SDI, and AM product and claim administration techniques.
  • Remain fully aligned with operational standards.
  • Meet or exceed claim team operational metrics.
  • Maintain a superior level of genuine caring and empathetic customer service throughout all interactions.
  • Take appropriate actions to earn the claimant’s and employer’s trust and confidence.
  • Anticipate customer needs and take action.
  • Work as a team to support one another by being flexible and collaborating.
  • Create a positive work environment and maintain professionalism and integrity.
  • Actively foster high morale and show dedication to excellence.
