Includes Clinical roles focused on research projects. Positions in this family perform basic, translational, and/or clinical research towards solving a specific problem for an entity or community. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. Works independently with general supervision, problems faced are difficult but typically not complex, and may influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices. Job Overview This position is responsible for providing primary analytic support and data coordination to clinical investigators. The position provides analytic, programming, and data coordination support for clinical researchers, research grants, and research projects. Activities include the development and implementation of research databases, data coordination, and analytic plans.

  • Provides statistical and programming support including programming new routines using SAS, R, and helps with tables, graphs, presentations, and literature searches.
  • Assists other researchers with the design of experience and the analysis of data.
  • Participates in the general statistical work of the Department including attending weekly research meetings and meetings with other staff statisticians.
  • Coordinates data management activities for clinical studies.
  • Applies advanced programming or statistical methodologies to research projects and studies.
  • May provides support for the training of clinical researchers.
  • May participate in the development of courses and seminars.
  • May actively participate in research seminars and lectures.
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in a medical research environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), and familiarity with databases (e.g., experience using MS Access).
  • Analytical skills to appropriately develop and modify complex testing, reviewing of tests, and interpretation of findings.
  • Ability to be meticulous and detail-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle competing demands in order to meet project timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities as needed.
  • Clinical or scientific knowledge and techniques relevant to area of research.
  • Demonstrated care in following procedures and diligence in recordkeeping.
  • Ability to communicate with peers as well as researchers.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a medical research environment.
  • Experience in computer programming, managing, and analyzing large databases and data sets.
  • Experience with SAS or R programming, and other relevant statistical analysis tools.
