About The Position

Operate Heating Plant to provide steam for the campus and monitor the Energy Management System. This position will cover other stationary engineer’s shifts when vacation and sick leave are requested. Make changes to scheduled events and set points when required. Demonstrates the importance of customer satisfaction and represents the university in a professional manner. This position works in accordance with all regulations adapted by the State of Minnesota pertaining to Minnesota State Boiler and Pressure Vessel codes. This position answers emergency phone calls and calls maintenance personnel in for overtime when situations require. This position is considered essential during natural and man-made disasters, and during inclement weather. Employee will report for duty as directed by their supervisor and is subject to recall during these types of events. Requirements

  • Must have a minimum 1st Class B State of Minnesota boiler license.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers, furnaces, mechanical systems and other equipment within the steam generation plant.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of a high pressure steam boilers and plant on an assigned shift.
  • Requires a cooperative working relationship with all other tradesmen, as well as faculty, staff, students and on occasion, the public.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations and take all necessary precautions to prevent injury and illness.
  • Lifting, stair and ladder climbing are involved with tasks to be performed.
  • Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment. Eligibility includes being a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, or a foreign national authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship. Employees must maintain work authorization without sponsorship for the duration of their appointment.
