By taking on the role as a Stationary Engineer, you will inspect, operate, and maintain a high pressure, steam powerhouse, HVAC systems, emergency power and fire protection systems at Mercy Hospital. Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include tracking logs in the central utility plant, seeking trends to prevent issues, fully operating and maintaining the boilers, and inspecting and documenting on miscellaneous utility systems like bulk oxygen tanks and chillers All the while, we’ll provide you with opportunities to keep advancing your career. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with rotating weekends and holiday requirements

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Third Class Stationary Engineers License from the State of Ohio
  • Five years of experience in steam distribution systems, condensate systems, large chiller systems, water distribution systems, cooling towers and/or air handling systems
  • Military experience as a Machinists Mate (MM), Electric Power Production (3E0X2) or a similar role will be considered
  • Working knowledge of blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to inspect equipment
  • Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures and/or structures
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fire protection equipment, building automation equipment, emergency generators and controls

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, operate and maintain a high pressure/steam powerhouse, HVAC systems and emergency power and fire protection systems.
  • Monitor and maintain HVAC-related source and distribution equipment such as steam, chilled water, water chemistry, humidification, air handling, etc.
  • Monitor and respond to all fire protection systems.
  • Respond to all emergency calls.
  • Test and monitor emergency generators and transfer equipment.
  • Work at other Cleveland Clinic facilities as needed.
