About The Position

The Station Safety & Compliance Manager is the subject matter expert responsible for executing the Seattle Station’s safety and compliance strategy that directly impacts ramp, cargo, baggage, fleet service, fueling and passenger services at Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgement to make decisions and provide recommendations to optimize processes pertaining to station safety and compliance oversight.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in safety and compliance, preferably at an airport or an airline.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, or an additional 2 years of experience in lieu of this degree.
  • A robust understanding of airline safety and operating standards, as well as customer service, ground handling, cargo, and security operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand the root causes of issues and how to resolve them in a thorough manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly scope situations, develop an accurate understanding of risks, and develop plans responsive to those risks.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced, flexible environment with minimal supervision.
  • Professional work ethic and demonstrated ability to work with all work groups while addressing people courageously, directly, and candidly.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, creative and willing to try new approaches.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Horizon Air station audit programs.
  • Familiarity with TSA, FAA, and IATA regulations and requirements related to ground handling.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert responsible for executing the Seattle Station’s safety and compliance strategy.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercises considerable judgement to make decisions on the strategy for the development of corrective action plans in response to IEP, FAA, TSA and other Seattle station audit findings. Responsible for monitoring preliminary reviews of root cause and assessing accuracy of root cause to ensure that corrective action plans are sufficiently robust, well thought out, and feasible.
  • Influence the culture of safety and compliance at Seattle station through action, presence and reinforcement of behaviors.
  • Collaborate with and act as a guide for station leadership by identifying compliance/safety gaps.
  • Lead or partner on investigations relating to significant Ground Irregularity Reports (GIRs) and other incident reports.
  • Design and implement process for data collection, and the risk identification and assessment procedures during process-based audits. Address problems by compiling and analyzing Seattle station performance data.
  • Responsible for monitoring the successful completion of all required audits that Seattle station management is held accountable for performing on a routine basis.
  • Represent Seattle Station in Divisional Analysis Group (DAG) and Safety Review Board (SRB) meetings to review and analyze all available information in order to recommend changes for potential compliance risks through the development of mitigation plans and programs in Seattle.
  • Execute the strategy from the Ground Damage Review Board monthly meetings as Seattle Station’s representative to ensure the proper action on the information provided.
