About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced State Manager to lead our VIC & SA Bulk Division operations. This role is critical in driving safety, service performance and commercial results across two major states. You will oversee day‑to-day operations while also taking ownership of state financial performance, including budget management, cost control, and ensuring profitability across the bulk transport portfolio.

Requirements

Extensive experience in transport leadership (Bulk Haulage, steel, fuel, waste or heavy industry ideal)
Solid financial acumen experienced in budgeting, forecasting, P&L management and commercial decision‑making
Strong understanding of CoR, fatigue management, load restraint & mass‑management
Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and business partnering abilities
Experience with SAP, TMS or similar transport/operational systems
A continuous improvement approach, with strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented mindset
Demonstrated experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring high-performing teams

Responsibilities

Full operational oversight of the Bulk Division across Victoria and South Australia
Managing state P&L performance, cost control, and budget ownership
Analysing cost drivers, reviewing profitability, and implementing strategies to improve margin
Improving fleet utilisation, planning efficiency and day‑to-day service performance
Forecasting volumes, managing labour allocation, and ensuring alignment with financial targets
Ensuring all operations comply with SA & VIC CoR, fatigue, load restraint and safety requirements
Leading and developing frontline leaders, drivers and operational teams
Building strong customer relationships and ensuring service delivery excellence
Partnering with national leadership to support tenders, major initiatives and divisional growth plans
