About The Position

Guidehouse is seeking a Director to join its State and Local Government Practice in Tallahassee, Florida. This is a senior leadership role for a proven consulting professional who combines strong technology acumen with the ability to sell, deliver, and scale consulting services. The Director will be responsible for driving growth, leading complex client engagements, and building a sustainable book of business aligned with Guidehouse’s strategic priorities. This role requires a balance of client-facing leadership, hands-on delivery oversight, and business development. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating as a trusted advisor to senior executives while also mentoring teams and shaping market offerings. Build, manage, and grow a profitable book of consulting business aligned with Guidehouse’s strategic priorities. Lead business development efforts including opportunity identification, proposal development, pricing, and deal closure. Develop and maintain executive-level client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders. Act as engagement executive for complex, technology-enabled consulting projects, ensuring high-quality delivery and client satisfaction. Manage quality control for project deliverables and work product consistent with Guidehouse quality requirements Provide strategic direction and oversight for initiatives such as technology modernization, systems implementation, digital transformation, data and analytics, and enterprise platforms. Translate technology concepts into clear business value for non-technical stakeholders. Contribute to go-to-market strategies, account planning, and the development of new service offerings. Recruit, mentor, and develop consulting talent while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. Support overall practice operations including financial performance, utilization, and resource planning. Partner closely with other Guidehouse practices creating wholistic solutions that address business needs. Partner closely with our teaming partners and build joint GTM plans. Leverage Guidehouse frameworks and other leading practices identify and implement program improvements for clients

Requirements

  • Experience serving public sector clients, particularly state or local government organizations.
  • Demonstrated success selling and delivering consulting engagements with responsibility for revenue growth.
  • Strong technology proficiency, with experience in areas such as IT modernization, cloud, systems implementation, data and analytics, or digital transformation.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain executive-level client relationships.
  • Experience leading complex engagements and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a leadership role that balances sales, delivery, and people management.
  • Established market presence or professional network in Florida, especially in Tallahassee.
  • Critical thinking to solve problems and develop innovative solutions to client's management and operational challenges.
  • Proven abilities as a team leader: supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust; seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation; participating in various staff recruitment and retention activities; and coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
  • Ability to 'quick start' account plan and target new business opportunities that support relevant practice development goals and objectives.
  • A Director in Guidehouse’s State and Local Government practice must possess the following:
  • Ten (10)+ years minimum of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel to clients locations, GH Office locations and as needed to support business development activities within the State of Florida
  • Must have familiarity with State and Local Government structures, processes, procurement process, backdrop contracts, and network
  • Currently Reside within 50 miles of Tallahassee, FL.
  • Management consulting skills such as project management, financial modeling, operational modeling, process improvement and stakeholder management

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree - MPP or MPA (including MBA or equivalent)
  • Prior experience at a management consulting firm.
  • Track record of building or scaling consulting offerings or practices.
  • Experience representing a firm through thought leadership, industry events, or executive briefings.
  • Experience managing challenging projects and serving clients
  • Experience facilitating meetings and public speaking with large groups
