About The Position

This role, under the direction of the Department Supervisor, involves assigning and directing workers in a group to meet production volume, cost, quality, and delivery goals. The operator assists in maximizing efficiency and productivity, ensuring the work group has necessary resources, and developing plans for fulfilling customer orders. They help update the group on pertinent information, perform continuous quality control, and maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping. The position also involves training co-workers, identifying training needs, providing technical assistance, and facilitating group processes for continuous improvement. The operator guides problem-solving, advises on organizational changes, orients new members, and ensures group goals are clear. They interface with other departments, build rapport, and refer unusual problems to the Supervisor. Additionally, the role includes conveying materials, coordinating material flow with other departments, operating industrial trucks or electric hoists for loading/moving materials, working with planners for daily workload distribution, resolving floor issues (shop orders, material problems, notes, quantities), and assisting with final QC and backing up other departments as needed.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assigns and directs workers in group with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production and meeting production goals and delivery dates.
  • Assists in achieving maximum efficiency and productivity of group personnel.
  • Encourages efficient utilization of equipment and facilities.
  • Assists in ensuring that work group has necessary resources to complete requirements.
  • Works with Supervisor and group members to develop plans for fulfilling orders according to customer requirements.
  • Assists in updating the work group on information pertinent to the successful delivery of the order.
  • Performs continuous quality control inspections of own work and co workers during normal course of operations.
  • Assists in maintaining compliance with Company policies, safety standards, and good house-keeping practices.
  • Maintains work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Directs co workers to do the same.
  • Assists in training of work group.
  • Assists in identifying training needs and provides technical assistance and training when necessary.
  • Helps facilitate the group process both in meetings and in daily operations.
  • Provides feedback and coaching for group.
  • Assists in developing individual group members in process, team dynamics, basic quality tools, and problem-solving models and techniques.
  • Assists in guiding the work group's problem-solving process toward continuous improvement of quality and productivity measures.
  • As directed by Supervisor, expediently advises group of any organizational changes that may affect their processes.
  • Orients new members of group.
  • Helps to ensure that group goals are pertinent and clear to all.
  • Helps the group reach consensus of key issues.
  • Interfaces with other departments as necessary.
  • Builds rapport with other organizational units and individuals critical to the group's success.
  • Refers unusual conditions or non routine problems to Supervisor.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Confers with supervisors of other departments to coordinate flow of materials or products.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Works with planner for daily workload, distribute to production floor.
  • Resolve issues on floor (shop orders, material problems, notes, quantities).
  • Assists with Final QC and Backs up other Depts. as necessary.
