Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION COURSE and SCHEDULE THEA 143 Stagecraft Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:25 AM- 1:35 PM in the Spring and Fall semester. This course has 3 lecture and 3 lab units. Essential Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Examples of essential functions are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Desirable Qualifications DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Ability to collaborate with and teach students from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive learning environment while imparting the principles of theatre arts with a focus on Production and Design – Stagecraft. Skilled at adapting instructional methods to meet varying skill levels and learning styles. Demonstrated expertise in both the theoretical and practical application of traditional and contemporary stagecraft principles. Employ and teach a dynamic lecture/laboratory format integrated with project-based learning to deliver comprehensive instruction across a wide range of scenic design and construction disciplines, including: Theatrical Safety Theatre Architecture Hardware and Fastening Systems Scenic Materials Scenery Construction: Flats, Platforms, and Step Units Scenery Movement: Decks, Wagons, Turntables, and Slipstages Structural Design and Building Codes Rigging Systems: Static and Dynamic Rope Work: Knots and Splicing Techniques Scenic Finishes and Surface Treatments Understanding of CTE program objectives with a robust background in theatrical video and projections work at a theme park or entertainment venue. LMS experience/training (Canvas). Detailed experience teaching technical theatre courses, especially introductory classes, with innovative teaching practices supporting success and retention of women, students of color and students with disabilities. Experience collaborating with faculty, staff, and/or community leaders in programs and initiatives that are specifically designed to assist historically underrepresented students achieve their educational goals.
