About The Position

The Koger Center for the Arts is accepting applications for a Stage Manager. This position is responsible for the successful production of all events held at the venue. Following tech rider specs, ensures that all staging requirements are met including staffing, training, and supervision of a P/T production crew. Also responsible for the general maintenance of the staging area, including but not limited to flooring, lighting, dashers, etc.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard staging techniques, experience in lighting design and sound production.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work extended hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Assoc. or Bachelor's degree in related field. Minimum 5 years experience in an entertainment venue setting to include staging, lighting, and sound production.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train and supervise a P/T production crew of approximately 100-150. Provide a positive, productive, and professional work atmosphere. Responsible for the safety of the crew members, ensuring that all OSHA rules and regulations are followed. Schedules crew members as per show requirements.
  • Provides and oversees maintenance of all stage equipment, stage and surrounding storage areas. Must fully understand the functions of stage equipment in order to assess its productivity and troubleshoot operational issues. Employee must stay up to date with the latest technical developments within the theatrical industry providing recommendations for repair and/or upgrade when needed. Responsible for the organization of storage areas, ensuring the areas are clean and free of broken and outdated equipment and supplies.
  • Works with Technical Director to advance the technical and personnel needs of productions. Provides accurate cost estimates to potential building users. At show load-in, provides tour of facility to artist and/or production company representative ensuring they have a full understanding of the facilities available to them. In preparation for event settlement, provides facility director with accurate labor and equipment charges in a timely manner working within the estimate given.
  • As per artist requirements, develops lighting cues, executes standard theatrical elements and acts as the building liaison between the production crew and the Front of House to ensure a smooth production run.
  • Following established guidelines and procurement rules, employee purchases supplies and equipment as needed for stage department. As a Purchasing Cardholder, employee must retain receipts, pair with monthly statement and approve monthly expense reports created by department liaison. Ensures that maintenance and technical expenses stay within budget and that expenses are properly allocated.
