About The Position

Plans, coordinates, provides, and evaluates supports and services rendered by Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to the Supported Independent Living Individuals entitled to these services by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned or required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of recipients or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Responsibilities

  • Adjusts staff schedules to meet emergencies caused by extended leave, illnesses, doctor appointments, etc.
  • Approves the swapping of shifts when requested or needed.
  • Compiles and oversees distribution of monthly staffing schedules when needed.
  • Assists in planning and conducting training programs for Direct Support Professionals to meet their needs and fulfill agency requirements.
  • Studies recipient staffing needs to ascertain personnel requirements and submits personnel requisitions when appropriate.
  • Monitors performance of the Direct Support Professionals and interprets agency standards to the staff.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate books and manuals.
  • Maintains records and organizes filing to facilitate the expeditious retrieval of information so that Staff Members may accomplish their responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
  • Attends required PPOC meeting and/or staff meetings as requested.
  • Participates in continuing education activities and obtains required in-service hours.
  • Serves as liaison between staff and the recipient and/or family member.
  • Participates in aspects of the interview process for Direct Support Professionals.
  • Provides supports to recipients in the absence of a Direct Support Professional when needed.
  • Respect recipients, family members, and Direct Support Professionals with confidentiality and privacy, as well as communicating in a continuous and respectful manner.
  • Answers and refer telephone calls or other inquiries to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated.
  • Perform other duties as required.
