Requirements

  • Exceptional writing skills with a strong command of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to produce high-quality and engaging news and features.
  • Proficiency in conducting thorough research and interviews to gather accurate and relevant information for articles and features.
  • Knowledge of the Broadway industry, including current and past shows, key personalities, historical context and industry dynamics.
  • Understanding of AP style guidelines and the ability to write in a consistent and professional tone.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with editors and other team members to develop and refine content ideas and ensure editorial standards are met.
  • Keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and factual correctness in all written content.
  • Knowledge of digital publishing tools and content management systems (CMS) to publish and format articles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passion for theater and a deep appreciation for Broadway with a genuine enthusiasm for sharing that passion with readers.
  • Adaptability and openness to feedback, incorporating edits and suggestions to continuously improve writing skills and content quality.
  • Flexibility to attend press events and opening nights as required to cover relevant news and conduct interviews.

Responsibilities

  • Research and write engaging and informative articles, features, interviews and other written content focused on Broadway shows, events and personalities.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in the Broadway industry, including new productions, casting announcements, award shows and industry news.
  • Proactively pitch timely and relevant story ideas.
  • Conduct thorough research to gather information, interview industry professionals, attend shows and events, and gather insights to ensure accurate and compelling content.
  • Adhere to Broadway.com's editorial standards, style guidelines and brand v oice, ensuring consistency and high-quality writing across all published content.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Editor and other team members to develop and refine article ideas, outlines and content plans and incorporate feedback to enhance the quality and impact of the written content.
  • Meet assigned deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Contribute to content brainstorming sessions and editorial meetings, sharing.
