About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Staff Veterinarian to join their South Mountain Clinic, working within their hospital with a focus on High-Quality, High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN). This opportunity is for a skilled and compassionate veterinarian. Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine OR Veterinary Medical Doctor Degree and licensed to practice in Arizona
  • One-to-two years of experience in a veterinary practice or shelter with emphasis on high-volume spay/neuter skills
  • Must possess above average spay/neuter skills and a humane attitude towards animals and people
  • Demonstrated ability to perform 30-40 spay/neuter surgeries per day
  • Must be able to evaluate health status in an objective manner and determine the most appropriate treatment for an animal
  • Must work well with others, treat coworkers with respect, and maintain a positive attitude for both internal colleagues and external customers
  • Good communications skills
  • Able to speak, read and write English
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer
  • Able to learn other software programs as necessary
  • Proficiency with or able to learn/use Chameleon software (for use with animals in a shelter environment), and practice management software

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish language helpful
  • Experience with other practice management software helpful

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre and post-operative exams
  • Conduct high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries
  • Provide vaccinations and follow-up care
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Ensure proper patient care protocols
  • Build meaningful relationships with clients, staff, and volunteers
  • Collaborate with clinic leadership
  • Support training and mentorship for veterinary students and staff
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethical veterinary medicine
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across clinic operations
