This role requires a deep understanding of vehicle diagnostics systems, automotive communication protocols, edge computing technologies and regulatory compliance. The Staff TLM, Backend (Vehicle Edge) will play a critical role in building the infrastructure that enables our smart diagnostic systems.

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of deep expertise in software design, architecture, and engineering.
  • Golang/Python Proficiency: Strong experience with Golang and/or Python, including concurrency, networking, and data structures.
  • Basic Edge Computing: Familiarity with the concept of edge computing and containerization (Docker).
  • Automotive Protocols: Basic understanding of automotive and web communication protocols (e.g., UDS, DoIP, DoCAN, HTTP, gRPC, MQTT).
  • Communication: Ability to bridge technical details with business requirements.
  • API Development: Experience designing and developing gRPC and/or RESTful APIs.
  • Databases: Proficiency with at least one database technology (SQL or NoSQL).
  • DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Security: Understanding of security best practices for on-vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

  • Technical leadership: Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers, driving architectural decisions and ensuring the quality of the team's output.
  • System design: Design and architect complex backend systems for equipment integration, considering scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Mentorship and collaboration: Mentor and coach other engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Problem-solving: Tackle complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Code quality: Champion code quality standards and best practices, conducting code reviews and ensuring the team's code is well-documented and testable.
  • Performance optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks in on-vehicle diagnostic systems, optimizing for speed and efficiency.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, clearly articulating technical concepts and decisions.
  • Ownership: Take ownership of projects and initiatives, driving them to successful completion.
