About The Position

The Staff Therapist I provides clinical services to children and youth with illegal sexual behaviors and their families. This role involves completing assessments, conducting risk assessments, formulating and implementing individualized treatment plans, and providing individual and group counseling services. The therapist coordinates work with a designated treatment team and travels within the program's catchment area to meet with clients, families, and professionals at various locations including juvenile courts, community partners, and client homes. Additionally, the position supports the program's research and evaluation projects by maintaining databases, organizing and managing research data, extracting and preparing data, analyzing performance and outcomes, and collaborating with the research team on scholarly articles, presentations, literature reviews, and grant proposals.

Requirements

Master’s degree or higher in counseling, psychology, or social work.
Must be licensure eligible in the State of Alabama.
Must have valid U.S. driver's license.
Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire.
Have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
A social work degree must be from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (if applicable).
Persons who provide direct treatment services to youth with illegal sexual behaviors shall be licensed or license eligible to practice in their professional discipline by the appropriate State of Alabama licensing authority where applicable.
Persons who are licensed eligible must obtain their license within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) years of experience with children or youth with mental or behavior health diagnoses or court-involved children or youth.
Experience working with youth with illegal sexual behaviors.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical services to children and youth with illegal sexual behaviors and their families.
Complete assessments of children and youth.
Conduct risk assessments.

Provide individual and group counseling services to youth with problematic sexual behavior.
Coordinate work with a designated treatment team.
Travel within program catchment area to meet with clients, families, and professionals at juvenile courts, community partners, and client homes to provide assessment and treatment services.
Assist with program's research and evaluation projects by updating and maintaining databases related to grants and research projects.
Organize and manage research data.
Extract and prepare data for research.
Analyze performance and outcomes.
Work with research team to produce scholarly articles and presentations.
Assist with literature reviews and gathering information for grant proposals.
